Ronan is a modern wood-fired oven restaurant with a focus on seasonal small plates, Neapolitan pizza, and craft cocktails.
Caitlin and Daniel Cutler, co-owner/operator and co-owner/chef, approached Groth with a concept to bring Daniel’s elevated take on wood-fired pizza and breads to the heart of Los Angeles.
Michael brought in a layered palette of textured plaster walls, shou sugi ban (charred cedar) tables, and custom brass and iridescent glass lighting in playful shapes to complement the fun-yet-elegant food and drinks.

Lighting was a primary concern of the design narrative for Ronan. Groth Studio worked with talented local lighting fabricators Neptune Glassworks to develop a full line of custom light fixtures for the space.
Groth played with a palette of raw brass, milk glass, and clear globes to create whimsical light fixtures throughout the space, evoking the glamour of the hollywood regency period.

A dramatic dark-toned marble bar evokes the perfectly charred crusts coming out of the handmade pizza oven that anchors the open kitchen.
Booth-side sconces with custom adjustable shades allow for lighting to be adjusted as lighting conditions fluctuate throughout the day.

Groth Studio utlized local redwood in different natural finishes to create a warm and inviting outdoor dining area. A redwood screen of varying thicknesses creates a visual barrier from adjacent buildings while allowing light and air to pass through above.
